Welcome to the home of Bute Noir, our annual crime-writing festival held on the Isle of Bute.

Bute Noir came together relatively quickly after a chance meeting between bookshop owner Karen Latto with crime author Craig Robertson in 2015. Several e-mails later and we had managed to pull together what we hoped would be the first of many crime festivals on the Isle of Bute. Held over two days at three venues and with 11 authors, we had a back to back schedule to suit fans of all crime fiction. We are only 90 minutes from Glasgow by rail and sea, there is nothing stopping YOU from enjoying a trip Doon The Watter to join us in Rothesay this August!
